Bacteriostatic water is the standard diluent for lyophilised peptides — 0.9% benzyl alcohol makes it suitable for multiple withdrawals from one vial, unlike sterile water. Sterile glass vials, 0.22μm syringe filters and petri dishes complete the bench requirements.

Choosing a size. Work out your diluent volume before ordering with the peptide calculator; it is the number most often got wrong, and it determines how much bacteriostatic water a batch of vials actually needs.
