Epitalon — also spelled Epithalon — is a synthetic tetrapeptide, sequence AEDG, based on a peptide isolated from the pineal gland. Both spellings are in common use, including on certificates from different suppliers.
A 2025 overview in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences surveys the compound and its reported properties, and is the most current single source on it.
Mechanism in the literature
Research attention has centred on reported effects on telomerase activity in cell culture, and on the pineal origin of the parent peptide. The published base is smaller and older than for most compounds in this catalogue.
Much of the primary literature is Russian-language work from the 1980s and 1990s, not all of it accessible in translation. Epitalon has no marketing authorisation and is supplied for laboratory research only.
